What Are Essential Oils?
Essentials oils are natural oils distilled from flowers, roots, leaves and other parts of plants. These oils have been used for thousands of years though it is only recently that we have come to acknowledge just how beneficial they are to our health and wellness. However, unlike oils used in the past, the modern oils are more potent given that we now have better distillation techniques.
I have been using essential oils for years now and I can confidently say they have become one of the most essential pillars for my health, wellness and beauty regimens. Given the wide range of uses and benefits that these oils have, just about anyone can find a use for essential oils. This is because unlike pharmaceutical drugs that may have side effects, the use of essential oils takes a holistic and natural approach to healthcare.
There two ways to use essential oils: aromatherapy and topical application.
I use both of these methods in my health and wellness regimens depending on what intend to achieve.
Aromatherapy is one of the most popular ways to use essential oils. Aromatherapy typically involves inhaling the oils, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream. This is my most preferred way of using essential oils for wellness and health purpose. I have used it to heal digestive disorders, balance hormone levels, build immunity, cure thyroid problems, enhance memory, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression among others.
I have also used topical application for my essential oils though for the most part use it for my beauty regimens. Since essentials oils are more easily absorbed into the skin, they are great for treating all manner of skin conditions such as wrinkles, acne, and fine lines. I have used topical application when using the oils as an insect repellent, to reduce pain, to build my immune system, ward of colds and flu, as a face and hair moisturizer, and anti-inflammatory body lotion among others. Topical application can also be used to absorb essential oils into the bloodstream.
1) Lemongrass – I use lemongrass when I want to relax. It is also very good for pain relief and I have used it for aromatherapy massages to relieve sore muscles and joints. I have also found it effective against insomnia and a good remedy for stress, and anxiety.
8) Frankincense – Prized in some cultures even more than gold, Frankincense has many health and wellness benefits. It has a sweet and smooth citrus aroma to relax body and mind, It also has a lot of immune system boosting compounds and has been shown to have regenerative and restorative benefits for the skin. I have been using it a lot and I have found it effective for evening out blemishes and eliminating scars.
Making Your Own Synergy Oils
You can also make your own synergy oils by combining two or more essential oils to add to your health and beauty regiment. This has been one of my most effective hacks and I was blown away by the effects once I started doing it. All you have to do is find 2 to 5 complementary oils to achieve your desired outcomes. Another way to find complementary oils is to just open the caps of your bottles and holding the open bottles close together, gauge how they will smell when blended. By combining two or more essential oils you can make an exotic mix that that can help deal with a health condition or two, or even deal with several health and beauty issues using one concoction.
The price of the workshop includes one bottle of synergy oils that you can make yourself. Recipes and materials will be provided. Additional bottles of synergy oils will be $15.00.
